The short version
Better Selects is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
If you click a product link on this site and buy something, Amazon may pay us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price either way — the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not your total.
What it does not change
No brand pays us to be listed, to be ranked higher, or to be described kindly. We do not accept payment for placement, we do not run sponsored posts, and nobody gets to review a piece before it goes up. When a product has a real flaw, it is written into the entry as a “watch out” rather than left out.
Commission rates differ by Amazon category, which means some products earn us more than others. We do not order picks by what pays best. If the cheaper item is the right answer, the cheaper item is the pick.
About the prices you see
Every price on this site carries the date we checked it. Amazon prices move constantly — sometimes hourly — so the number next to a product is a record of what we saw, not a promise of what you will pay. The price on the Amazon product page at the moment you check out is the only one that is real. We re-check the deals we feature and update the dates, but between checks a price can rise, fall, or the listing can sell out entirely.
How we pick things
Picks start from the products themselves: current listings, spec sheets, manufacturer documentation, and the body of published owner feedback — including the complaints. We prefer items with a long enough sales history to have a real failure pattern over ones that launched last month with a wall of five-star reviews. Where a “deal” is only a deal against an inflated list price, we say so instead of featuring it.
